It accumulates rather than happens

No freelancer decides to keep several clients' confidential material in one unprotected folder. It arrives one project at a time, and by year three a single laptop holds contracts, briefs, credentials and finished work belonging to people who each assumed they were the only one.

That's the actual exposure, and it isn't solved by a login password. A login password decides who can sign in to the operating system. Pull the drive, connect it elsewhere, and the files open like any other files.

A vault per client, not one big locked box

Vaultine supports as many separate vaults as you need, each with its own contents. One client's material doesn't sit next to another's, which matters both practically and contractually: if you're ever asked what protects a particular client's files, "they're in their own encrypted vault" is a better answer than "they're in a folder on my laptop."

Folder import is what makes this realistic. An existing client directory comes in whole, structure intact, instead of being rebuilt one file at a time.

The screen-share problem

The everyday risk isn't a thief, it's a shared screen. Vaultine's stealth auto-lock closes the vault and clears the keys from memory the moment the app is minimized, so switching to your browser mid-call doesn't leave a vault sitting open behind it. The built-in viewer helps for the same reason: files open inside the vault rather than being decrypted into a folder something else could index or back up.

Client work follows you between a laptop and a phone, and often a second machine. Vaultine runs natively on Windows, macOS, iOS and Android, with no account tying any of it together, so the vaults you set up are the same ones everywhere rather than separate copies drifting apart.
